The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) now participates in the TSA Pre Check program.
What does this mean to travelers at CID?
- Allows some travelers to leave on shoes, light outerwear and belt
- Allows some travelers to keep their laptop in its case
- Allows some travelers to keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag
The TSA Pre Check lane will be available during select, peak travel times based on projected airline passenger volume.
Who can participate in TSA Pre Check?
U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents can apply for TSA Pre Check expedited screening benefits for a fee of $85, which is valid for five years. For more information, visit TSA.gov.
Local residents can sign-up for TSA Pre Check at the IdentoGo Office located at 625 1st Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids. Enrollment is offered Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“TSA Pre Check is a signature program of the agency designed for passengers who are low-risk, Trusted Travelers,” David Dailey, TSA Federal Security Director for Iowa said in a press release. “By providing these individuals a streamlined trip through the secutiry checkpoint, TSA officers can focus their resources on passengers who may post a higher or unknown risk.”
