How does The Honeymoon's registry work?
The Honeymoon's registry works like most gift
registries except that instead of individually choosing dishes, toasters,
and other household items, you are choosing pieces of a honeymoon. Within
the honeymoon are many components and activities that can represent
individual gift items. These things are itemized, just as in a traditional
gift registry. You enter the information and when you are finished, voila!
What are people saying about The Honeymoon's
honeymoon registry? Read some of the testimonials on the homepage and
you'll see a fraction of the types of comments both guests and couples are
making. Wedding guests like being given a choice of gifts because it gives
them an opportunity to choose a gift that better matches their own
personality - which is what all gift givers strive to do. Nobody wants to
give a gift that they would not appreciate themselves; that is why we
recommend having gift registry even if you feel you don't need any more
stuff. There will be traditionalists that simply would prefer giving you
something that they can see, touch, and feel themselves. For others, they
will appreciate the alternative, progressive nature of a honeymoon
registry because it is the type of registry they would choose if they were
getting married now.
Tip: Have fun with it and give it some of your
own personality.

My honeymoon is the most
important trip I've ever planned. What is the best way to go about
planning it?
Purchasing a honeymoon is not so different from
making other major purchases in your life, like a car. You decide what you
can afford to spend and then you want to get the most value for your hard
earned money. It is just easier buying something you can see and touch
first because you're not surprised when you take possession of it.
Travel, on the other hand, has room for all sorts of
surprises because you don't know exactly what you've purchased
until you get there. Whether you have your own travel agent, use one of
ours, or work with one of our affiliated travel agencies, it is important
that you give your agent the information they need to get you the most
honeymoon for the money. That means they'll need to know if you have a
budget, how many days/nights you would like, and what would be more
important: more nights in a lesser quality room or fewer nights in a posh
honeymoon suite. A good travel agent needs to know these things to do a
quality job for you.
Bottom line: make sure that when you
make price comparisons that you are comparing "apples to
apples." Many of the travel providers we work with, for example,
build in special value-adds for honeymoon/romance packages. These
value-adds have costs, but their true cost to you is always less than if
you were to buy them individually at the property. They do it because it
will ensure a positive experience that reflects well on them; and
hopefully, you'll refer someone or come back yourself.

How do we, the couple, collect our gifts?
The Honeymoon will send you a check five business
days prior to your honeymoon. Any funds that come in after that will
accumulate in your FDIC insured account, which will stay open until for an
additional thirty days or until you contact us before that time to close
the account. At that time, a final check to reconcile the account will be
made to you.

How do I let my guests know about my registry?
As busy as most people are today, guests don't want
to have to make all sorts of phone calls just to find out where a couple
is registered. Thanks to the Internet, it is possible to add an insert to
your wedding or bridal shower invitations that notifies guests that you
have a "Personal Wedding Web Page" at The Honeymoon. Here you
have an opportunity to put all the important information pertaining to
your wedding and honeymoon. Click to see a Sample
Personal Web Page.
You may also add an insert
or send a postcard
that tells guests you are registered at The Honeymoon if you wish.

How do the gifts in my registry get paid for?
It is important to distinguish the difference between
the registry and your travel booking, whether it be with an online or
traditional travel agent. In the case of cruise and most hotel/resort
bookings, a deposit must be made to hold a reservation; and final payment
needs to be made at least 60 days prior to departure. This means that you
are ultimately responsible for your honeymoon payment arrangements.
The registry is a means to help you with your
honeymoon expenses and to offer your guests a gift alternative that may be
more in step with their own personalities. You may want to have a pedicure
and massage while on your honeymoon, but may have stretched your budget
just getting to your honeymoon destination. Some guests would prefer to
help you get that pedicure, massage, parasailing or romantic dinner; and
others are happy getting you the toaster. The important thing is that you
give your guests the choice.

Should we still do a gift registry?
Yes, you should. Your wedding guests appreciate that
you are trying to make their gift giving more convenient and personal.
However, they will greatly appreciate that you have given them
alternatives that allow them to choose a gift that is meaningful to them
as well.

We would like to take a honeymoon but money is
tight. What we might expect in honeymoon gifts so that we don't overextend
ourselves?
There is no easy answer to this because it depends on so many different
factors. Although there is no obligation for guests to give a gift, most
would like nothing more than to give something the couple really needs or
wants. A parent, maid of honor, best man, or close friend can usually get
the word out. People who care about you will rally for you.

Is there a cost to this service?
The only cost to you is the time you put into
creating your registry and wedding web page. But that's something that
you'll have fun doing. It's your registry, feel free to personalize it as
much or as little as you want! There are no up-front fees for
creating your registry and our backend service/gift delivery fee is the
lowest of any honeymoon registry service in the nation, starting at a
high of 8.85% and on down to a low of 5.85% as the size of the gift
gets larger. Just what you'd expect from the leader.

Tell me more about the service charge on gift
purchases.
This fee is how The Honeymoon stays in business and
is able to offer you this valuable service. To summarize, it is a charge
that is added on to the wedding gift that in most cases, amounts to less
than sales tax and gift wrap for the more traditional wedding gift. This
helps pay for the transaction costs (credit card fees, processor fees),
customer service and the costs to operate and improve the site. Through
their purchase, your guests are helping us offer you this service free of
charge. In essence, it is part of the gift they give you. And, most
importantly, when one of your guests purchases a $50 gift for you, you
receive the entire $50 gift; not a $45.50 or lesser value gift.

Thank you cards - how do I know who purchased
what so I can thank them?
Once you've created a registry account, you have a
number of features at your disposal - registry editting, wedding web page,
guest notification, and a registry review screen. Your registry review
screen shows you all gifts purchased, when they were purchased and who the
gift givers were. You also have a record of the personalized gift message
that was sent in your email gift notification.
